This little guy is full of adventure! Beaux loves to explore (like his sisters Missy and Prissy) and will walk or run with you anywhere. His soft side sees him sitting next to you or on your lap with his head on your arm asleep. He likes to be loved with a gentle hand and will sit for a long time soaking up the love he has missed.

Beaux, Missy, and Prissy are litter mates who were found on a rural county road by a teenage girl who insisted that her mom help her rescue them. Missy and Beaux were found together and taken to the vet, who did a skin scraping to test for mange. It was negative -- the pups were in such terrible shape (skin and coat-wise) due to a horrible flea infestation. The pups were bathed, given a treatment for fleas, wormed, and given their first distemper/parvo vaccination. The Good Samaritans posted the pups on Facebook and one of our volunteers tagged us on Facebook. We found a foster and agreed to take them in. Later that same evening, another Good Samaritan found Prissy on the same county road and posted her on the same Facebook page. Everyone who saw the post was pretty sure this pup MUST be a litter mate to the others. Our foster family agreed to take all three pups, and the first Good Samaritan picked up Prissy to take her in to the same vet to get the same treatment the other pups received. The vet said it's pretty much a certainty that the three pups are litter mates. At their young age, he could only guess at their breed, but we trust that his guess is as good as ours could be. As they grow, we may start to see characteristics that make us change our view about which breeds might be in their family tree. For now, the important thing is that these three pups are getting healthy -- they're getting good food, vaccinations and worming on a regular schedule, along with heartworm and flea prevention, and they have all been spayed/neutered. Their foster family has a senior Great Pyrenees, Maggie, who loves "mothering" puppies, so Maggie is supervising the pups daily. If you're interested in adopting one of these cuties. please complete our online application.

It's clear that all these pretty pups need is love and care. Fortunately, BARN rescued them in time for them to overcome a sad start in life, and they are all eager to fill your heart and home with fun and happiness.

About Bluebonnet Animal Rescue Network

About Our Rescue Group...

Bluebonnet Animal Rescue Network (BARN) was founded in 2013 to help animals in North Texas, and especially in the Texoma area. We are a non-profit corporation, founded by people who had spent years rescuing an assortment of animals -- from a vulture with a broken wing to feral cats to dogs who were dumped in our rural area. We fostered for another organization for a few years before forming BARN. We are not breed-specific in our rescue efforts, but we have a fair amount of experience with Great Pyrenees and a few other livestock guardian breeds.

We are always looking for more volunteers, including foster homes. And of course, as a non-profit organization, we always appreciate donations of time, services, dollars, and supplies. We usually have a LOT of big dogs in foster, and grooming appointments are expensive, so we are especially glad to have volunteers help us with this task. We would also be glad to have your help spreading the word about Bluebonnet Animal Rescue -- through Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, or any other social media you use. Give us a call and let us know how you would like to help!

Come Meet Our Pets...

We are based at Windsong Ranch in Whitewright, TX. This is a private, working ranch, so visits are by appointment only. We host an annual "Ranch & Rescue Day" in the fall, with a petting zoo, hay ride, and other fun activities. We are working on plans for a monthly adoption event at a local retail store, and will update this when the schedule is confirmed.

Our Adoption Process...

Our adoption process includes an application that helps us get to know you better so we can help you make the best match. If you have pets already, we will talk with your vet's office to be sure that you are being a good guardian for these animals. The next step is a home visit, during which we will pay special attention to your fencing and the shelter you will offer to one of our dogs. Finally, once everything is approved, we will introduce you to one or more dogs. If you fall in love and the feeling is mutual, we will complete a contract.

Our adoption fees vary according to the age and type of dog. We try to list the fee for each dog on his or her profile on our Adopt-a-Pet page, but in general, this is our fee structure:

$100 for Senior Dogs (8 and older)
$150 for "Regular" Dogs who are wonderful house pets
$200 for Farm-friendly Dogs who won't chase the chickens
$250 for Livestock-safe Adult Dogs who will guard goats, sheep, etc.
$300 for Puppies and Young Adults 2 years old and younger

We are an all-volunteer organization, and every one of our volunteers has a "real job" that takes up 8 or more hours a day. So please be patient when you contact us -- we'll respond to you as quickly as we can, but please don't be annoyed if it takes us 24 hours.
