My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Martha (AKA Martie) - 2 year old female Miniature Schnauzer mix. Martha was rescued from an LA county shelter where she came in as a stray along with Percy who we also rescued (Percy has already been adopted). Both dogs were on a long hold since they came in with tags (which led to invalid numbers). They were also matted messes, and obviously had been neglected. Martha had to do an extra long stretch after getting loose while at the shelter and nipping the animal control officer when cornered (got the ACO's pinky finger, not a bad bite, but never the less if you are a dog at ANY shelter, a bite gets you in big trouble!). Martha was put into quarantine and deemed unadoptable to the public. Initially she was so scared she wouldn't come up to anyone just hung in back of her cage but a dedicated shelter volunteer worked with her and brought her around with chicken and patience. We'd like to also give a big shout out to the Grooming Gives Hope Program for grooming Martha. It not only made her feel better but also proved she had no problems being handled. Martha was then able to get subsequent temperament test which she passed and was then allowed to be adopted by a rescue group on a liability waiver and that's where we stepped in :) When we initially got Martha she was a little afraid but after just one day in her foster home she totally come out of her shell and is a little love, gives kisses and all. Even though Martha is as sweet as can be, to be in compliance with the county waiver we need to place her in a home without children. Martha has a natural tail and little white socks on all four of her paws. BTW we named her after Martha Stewart. Just like Martha Stewart, she has a little record and did her time. She has total remorse as she didn't know the rules... and promises to never do that again! Lets give Martha another chance she has paid her dues! Martha is a small girl approximately 15 pounds.
