Mickey is a very handsome, pleasant, mature 19-pound Shih Tzu-mix. He's about 8 or 9 years old and has a beautiful white, tan and grey coat. It is believed that Mickey was loved and cared for in his early years, but later on he experienced neglect and instability. Despite having some hard times, Mickey has remained a sweet, mellow little guy, who is a delightful, gentle companion.
Mickey’s foster parents sometimes refer to him as “Admiral”, due to proper behavior, alertness, impressive posture, good deportment, and calm demeanor. He interacts well with people, older children and other dogs. If his foster parents go into another room, Mickey will find them and rest nearby.
Mickey’s greatest attribute is that he is a wonderful companion, and is happiest and most content if he can just be with you. While he is not a lapdog, he does always want to know where you are and be there with you, content to lie nearby. He seldom barks, likes to go on daily walks, and enjoys being outside. He especially likes to look out the window and is interested in watching the world go by. Mickey is a very dignified dog, is house broken, rides well in the car, and has wonderful house manners. He doesn’t ask for much, but he eats with gusto and will roll on his back and signal for belly rubs.
His foster parents are looking for an adoptive home that might that wants a laid back, obedient, alert dog, and where Mickey will not alone for more than 5 or 6 hours. Would also like his adoptive family to live within 30 miles of the Twin Cities.
Mickey has Cushing's disease (a hormonal disorder), which is successfully managed by a daily capsule which costs about $59.00 per month. He will need this medication for the rest of his life. He is otherwise very healthy and is neutered, current on vaccinations, microchipped, and on heartworm and flea/tick preventative. His adoption fee is $120.00 plus $8.73 sales tax for a total of $128.73.
