We are looking for an angel for young Roxie. If you are ready to adopt a young dog in need of love and patience, Roxie is the girl for you. She is gentle and timid, but really tries to get as much love as possible and loves to be snuggled and to get treats. She is learning to play but that's still a work in progress.
Roxie is a beautiful young brindle female, her mom is a hound, and we think her daddy might be a boxer. Roxie is in need of loads of love. She is a year old, and stands knee high, is quite lean, and weighs around 35 lbs. Roxie needs a family who is experienced with dogs, and who will love her and give her time to become a member of their family. She is less timid than her siblings but it will take time before she is fully comfortable in a new home.
When Roxie arrived at our rescue she was just a wee baby, and already in very bad shape from hunger and abuse, and was afraid of people. She is now healthy and comfortable with people. She loves to play with other dogs but she is still afraid of new people. She loves to lay on the couch, and snuggle with the other dogs or with her humans and is now more comfortable with cuddling. Roxie is housebroken, crate trained, does not chew, is not a barker, and has wonderful manners. Although she is timid, she is also smart and in need of a firm, patient, and gentle owner who will take the time to socialize her further. She is spayed and up to date on shots, and her adoption fee is $100.

Anyone wanting to adopt a dog from the RARFS is required to fill out an adoption application, provide references, sign an adoption contract, agree to a home visit, and finally to pay an adoption fee. Once the application is received, references checked, and a home visit completed, and everything is satisfactory, families can take their new family member home. Families who rent must provide a letter from their landlord stating that they are allowed to have a dog, and listing any size or breed restriction.
We are located in Cookeville, Tennessee. We prefer that families come and pick up their new family member, but a licensed pet transport is available. Should we need to transport dogs to their new homes, the adopter will need to arrange and pay $150 per dog directly to the transport company.
Should a dog adopted from RARFS need to be rehomed, we ask that the dog be returned to us, or that we approve the new home. We have a no questions asked return policy, but adoption and transport fees will not be reimbursed.
RARFS rescues dogs, not breeds, and we want you to fall in love with the dog you adopt into your family so, as potential adopters, please be aware that the information we provide is to the best of our knowledge. When it comes to breed or age information on a given dog, we must often guess, rely on our knowledge, or go by what we are told by rescuers, vets, and breed experts. If you are looking for a purebred dog, please visit one of the many breed specific rescue organizations on their website.
As a non-profit organization, RARFS relies on your adoption fees to cover costs. We receive no outside funding. Fees help us care for the animals we shelter, and enable us to offer them to you for adoption in a healthy and happy state. Fees cover the costs for spaying/neutering, intake vaccines, deworming, monthly heartworm and flea/tick prevention, and any other medical expenses. Without these fees we could not continue to rescue animals from abandonment and/or a life of pain and suffering. We’ve been asked these questions before, so: NO, we will not waive or reduce adoption fees; YES, you can further pay it forward by making a larger donation than the requested fee.
