My name is Scooter and I am an adorable black and white Shih Tzu/Cavalier King Charles mix. I am 4 years old and weigh 28 pounds, although the vet would like me to weigh 23 pounds. I am the friendliest, happiest dog you have ever met. My foster parents say I have a very "happy-go-lucky" personality. I also have a very high energy level and I'm looking for a forever family that will be committed to playing with me, taking me for long daily walks, and giving me lots of outlets for my energy! I love to play fetch in the backyard with tennis balls and rope toys. I also enjoy going for car rides and playing with other dogs. I am doing great at my potty training and I don't have accidents if I'm taken out regularly. My foster parents work during the day and I am fine while they are gone. I just sleep on the couch all day and then I'm ready to play, play, play when they get home! I think I would do just fine in a home with or without other dogs. I would also do well with older, respectful children. I sleep in bed with my foster parents at night but I could also probably get used to a bed on the floor in their bedroom.
I am currently working towards my ideal weight of 23 pounds, so I am lucky enough to go for two walks a day to help me shed those extra pounds (and use up some of my energy!). I will need a family that will keep this up and be dedicated to helping me manage my weight so I can live a long, healthy life. I will also need leash training because I tend to get too excited when I see other dogs and people on my walks. I am basically a big ball of love, energy, and playfulness and I will be your absolute best friend and companion.
I am neutered, current on all vaccinations, microchipped and on heartworm and flea/tick preventative. My adoption fee is $343.28, which includes MN sales tax. My foster parents prefer that my forever family is within a 50-mile radius of the Twin Cities and also requests they bring me to the rescue reunion annually in September.
