My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Birch Beer was admitted to Tree House Humane Society in February of 2016 after he was found to be friendly through a feral cat colony. He now resides in our FIV+ colony awaiting his forever adopter. Birch Beer has the best facial expressions! He will stare deeply into your eyes to express the love he has for his human companions. You’ll be his favorite companion if you grab the “Da Bird” to play in an interactive play session! Birch Beer is an independent kitty who would be great for an adopter who has long periods of the day when he could lounge on a cat condo and hunt birds out the window on his perch. He could co exist with another cat or low prey driven dog similar in personality. He is an outgoing, social butterfly who will warm your family's heart.

**Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV) causes a weakening of the immune system in cats. It's often compared to human HIV, but FIV is not transferable to humans or other species. It is also difficult to transfer to other sterilized cats, and we believe that mixed FIV and non-FIV households can work if managed properly. If kept indoors in a stress-free environment, with regular medical care and high-quality nutrition, most FIV+ cats live long and healthy lives. Tree House staff can help answer your questions to see if an FIV+ cat is the right choice for you. FIV+ cats adopted from Tree House are eligible for a lifetime veterinary-care plan that includes a free annual exam and discounted treatments.
