  • Hair: Short
Usher was first admitted to Tree House Humane Society in October of 2009 and then adopted close to a year after he had been admitted. Usher was then returned in March of 2016 after environmental changes in the home. Usher is a soft spoken, handsome man who would love going into his forever home with a confident adopter who is experienced in cat behavior and body language. Usher can come across as shy and timid during first introductions however patience and understanding go a long way with this sweet boy. Approaching with a calm and gentle presence will help Usher feel safe and secure in a new environment. Allowing him plenty of vertical space so he can be eye level with his adopter and providing outlets on the floor like tunnels or safe places will help him transition into a new home! Usher would be best without children or dogs in his new home. He could co exist with another kitty similar in personality who exhibits a calm or quiet personality. Usher depends strongly on his human companion for comfort who has a home that stays quiet and peaceful. Usher would love going home to someone who is looking for an independent, soft spoken gentleman who never asks for much and would stay your companion for life.

About Tree House Humane Society

About Our Shelter...

Tree House is a humane organization that promotes the inherent value of every animal and strives to educate the public about proper and responsible animal care, with a focus on the care and placement of stray cats with special physical and emotional needs. We are committed to finding every healthy and treatable animal a home.

Tree House was founded in 1971 and since that time we have expanded and enhanced our programs and services to become the largest, no-kill, cageless shelter for sick, injured, abused and neglected cats in the Chicagoland area. To date we have found homes for nearly 14,000 cats. In addition to our focus on the rehabilitation and adoption of stray cats, we offer many other valuable programs and services, including our Free Spay/Neuter Program, Pet Loss Grief Support Group, Humane Investigations Team, Youth Volunteer Program, Animal-Assisted Therapy, Behavior Hotline, Pet Food Pantry, and Education Outreach Program.

Our Adoption Process...

At Tree House, trained adoption counselors interview prospective adopters to understand their needs, and then adopters are escorted to the Adoption Floor to choose their future friend. Adopters are encouraged to take as much time as they need to find a cat. All adoption applications stay on file for three months so please don't feel that you need to rush to choose a companion cat right away.

Your adoption fee of $85 covers the cost of your cat's care at Tree House including: spay or neuter, deworming, flea treatment, FIV and FeLV testing, AVID microchip, veterinary examination, and all necessary vaccinations. We also give a 30-day health guarantee on all of our adoptions.
