KJ and her 5 siblings lost their mother when they were about 3 1/2 weeks old. Our rescue had been attempting to catch the family for several weeks. We were contacted after the mother was hit and killed by a car. We immediately sent people to the area to start searching for the orphaned puppies. They were finally found about 22 hours after their mom was killed.
Another dog in our rescue ("Cheerio") became their surrogate mom. She nursed them and treated them as if they were her own.
The puppies have been doing well and are now old enough to be placed into adoptive homes. They are very sweet and playful.
KJ is one of the smallest in her litter.
Their mom weighed 30 lbs. and was a mixed breed dog.
