Liffey is extremely friendly with everyone she meets. She loves people and gives all the kids she meets lots and lots of kisses. She enjoys going for walks and she love, love, LOVES going to the dog park. She even has perfect dog park manners! She doesn’t really play with the other dogs at the park, but she does enjoy running with them, visiting with the humans and exploring all the smells. Liffey is an active girl so she needs a home where she can go for regular walks and/or visit the dog park on a regular basis. She does very well when walking on a leash. She pulls a little bit when she smells something she really likes, but usually she walks at a brisk, but even pace. She would make an excellent running or biking buddy! She would also do well in any home where she gets to go camping or on adventures. Liffey has a definite zest for life and loves any and all adventures!
Liffey is both crate trained and potty trained. She has been left alone in the house for short periods of time while her foster mom is gone and she does very well. She doesn’t show any signs of separation anxiety and she waits patiently for her foster mom to return.
Liffey is also not a big barker. Her foster mom didn’t even know she could bark the first couple of weeks she had her! Occassionally she will let out a howl if she wants to get your attention or is ready for her walk. She’s also a great car rider. After a minute she just lays down in the back seat and stays until you reach your destination.
Liffey is a very smart girl. She knows how to sit, stay, lay down, come, shake hands as well as a few other commands. She has been through obedience training as well as socialization classes. She is eager to please and picks things up quickly. She can be a bit stubborn at times, but it’s nothing that a good treat can’t cure…one of her very favorite things to do is learn tricks for treats!
The reason Liffey is listed as ‘special needs’ is because she has had a few seizures. She only seems to have one every 4-6 weeks so she doesn’t require any medication. They last about 3 minutes and then she is back to being a totally normal dog the rest of the time. The seizures don’t limit her ability in any way.
Liffey was named after the river that runs through Dublin Ireland. She is a sweet and loving dog—with a personality that flows as freely as the river she was named after. She is an amazing girl. If you’re looking for a dog with a TON of personality and charm and if you’re looking for a dog to be your exercise buddy and/or companion around the house…Liffey may the perfect girl for you.
