My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Chopper and Sabbath: 11 yr old neutered Lab brothers ~82 lbs

Imagine having your very own fan club! That could be your life with Chopper and Sabbath.

Chopper (yellow) and Sabbath (black) are English Labrador brothers from the same litter. They have lived with one owner since they were puppies. The owner is relocating and cannot take the dogs with him. Chopper and Sabbath have been together their whole lives and we would greatly prefer to adopt them together to the same home.

These sweet boys are loving, playful, active and still very young at heart. They are a healthy weight and love to play fetch and swim. They pull a bit on leash when first starting on a walk because they are excited to get out, but then settle down and regularly check in with their human. They are good with kids, have lived with cats, and are fine with other dogs we’ve had them around.

The owner has been busy with work and young children and hasn’t had much time for Chopper and Sabbath the last few years. The dogs lived outside with their owner but they are now quickly adjusting to life inside the house in our foster home. They are attentive to humans and eager to please. We would like them to go to a home that will include them in activities of daily life and give Chopper and Sabbath the love and attention that they truly deserve.

Notes from their foster:

They have truly turned into excellent house dogs. We left them six hours yesterday and they were angels. They don't jump up, run off, or chase cats, squirrels, cars, horses, anything. They do their business right away (most of the time) as soon as they go out if they've been left for a while in the house. They don't get on the furniture or counter surf, and they're happy to lie in their beds when nothing is going on.

They are learning to give sweet kisses (without all the tongue and slobber). They just want to be with you and be petted and loved. We've been lovingly calling them Shadow and Velcro.

Although they don't mind their crates, we haven't made them go in them recently. They are both stiff and cramped when they come out, and it takes them several minutes to get all their parts working together. But when they are in their beds, they get up ready to go.

They are truly happy and always smiling and wagging their tales. Also it is really cute the way they clean each other’s ears and faces. And they're rarely more than a couple of inches apart.

Notes from their rescue rep:

These fun-loving boys are eager and ready for their next adventure. They love car rides and going out to see new things. They’d make great companions for walking in the woods, strolling on sandy beaches, or exploring the neighborhood. You can enjoy the natural wonders of the Bay Area with your loyal companions by your side, and in the evening you can snuggle by the fireplace with lots of Lab love and kisses. Why not double your pleasure and double your fun?

Chopper and Sabbath passed their well check exam, are heartworm negative, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations. They are currently located in Livermore.

If you would like to make these awesome boys part of your pack, please contact Rescue Rep Katy at 650-796-3596.

(Please keep in mind we are all volunteers, most of us work full time and we all have personal lives. I do call everyone back within 2-3 days so please be patient and I will be back in touch with you. When the dogs are in foster homes then it may take longer as we need to touch base with the fosters for updates on the dogs. We work very hard to make the right matches for the dogs and for the new owners. We get 3-5 dogs per week and we do not have a facility that we keep the dogs housed in. They are scattered all over the Bay Area.)
