My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Mac's adoption fee is $350.

Hi there! My name is Mac, and I am a male Dachshund. I am about 5 years of age and I weigh about 19 pounds (congratulate me – I lost about 8 pounds!). I’m neutered, up to date on vaccines and am micro chipped. I came into Tiny Paws in May 2015 after having had a back injury, and sadly, my family was no longer able to care for me. I was paralyzed on intake, but after treatment and crate rest, I’ve regained most of my movement (yay for me!). My wonderful foster mom took me to water therapy – I just *love* the water and swimming. I can walk and run, though my one rear leg remains a bit weak, and I may have the odd accident, as I don’t always know when I am going to the bathroom.

I am sweet and loving, get along well with the other dogs in my foster home, and did live with a cat in the past. I love to swim (did I say that already?), play with toys and cuddle.

In terms of care, my needs are not really different than any other dog. I will need to be carried up and down stairs, and extra rambunctious play or jumping on/off furniture should be prevented. If my new family would be able to give me opportunities to swim, I bet it may help me regain more movement and control. A home with adults or older children would probably be best, just to make sure that I am picked up and handled in the correct manner. Like many of my breed, I do bark a bit, so would be best in a single home vs. a shared housing situation (i.e. condo/apartment).
I am looking for my forever home and have so much love and fun to offer – could it be with you?
