Facts about Garf

  • Breed: Domestic Mediumhair
  • Color: Unknown
  • Age: Young
  • Sex: Male
  • ID#: 367519
  • Hair: Unknown
Garf came to the BC SPCA Port Coquitlam Education & Adoption Centre through the Drive for Lives Program after having been abandoned by his previous owner.

Garf has been with us for a while, as we were sorting out his food allergies. We sorted out his main allergy, and placed in him into a foster home for a few months which seemed to help significantly. However, upon his brief return to the Centre, his allergies came back with him. Therefore, we feel there may also be a stress component.

While his skin is not at 100%, we feel that improvement will only come in a forever home. His new guardian will need to continue with what we have been working on, keeping his allergies in check, and will need to keep on top of them potentially for his entire life.

Everything considered, this furry guy is totally worth it. He is snuggly, playful, quirky and an all around favourite here at the Centre. He is a very sweet boy who loves to be with his human friends. He is a total lap cat who will let you pet him for days. Garf also loves to play with water (which is rare for a cat)! He should go to a home with no other pets and be indoor only.

Garf is currently in a foster home to give him a break from the shelter. If you would like to meet him in his foster home, please contact us at 604.468.4044 or send us an email at poco@spca.bc.ca.

About Our Shelter...

See our website at www.spca.bc.ca/PoCo for all of our current adoption prices, hours of operation, etc.

The BC SPCA is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for domestic, farm and wild animals in British Columbia. Through its locations and operations across the province the BC SPCA provides emergency medical care and sheltering for more than 37,000 animals each year. The society also conducts more than 4,600 cruelty investigations and provides a wide range of advocacy and education programs for domestic, farm and wild animals through its Provincial Office.

Our mission, vision and charter is at the heart of all we do to rescue, protect and care for animals. It is also the driving force behind our animal welfare and education programs.

Our Charter:

The BC SPCA Charter is the foundation that guides the work we do:

Whereas:

The world is inhabited by many species sharing a common ecosystem of air, earth, and water. We recognize and value our interconnectedness with all animals.

Therefore:

The BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for the animals of the world we share.

We pledge our energies to inspire and mobilize society to create a world in which all animals, who depend on humans for their well-being, experience, as a minimum, five essential freedoms:

1. Freedom from hunger and thirst

2. Freedom from pain, injury, and disease

3. Freedom from distress

4. Freedom from discomfort

5. Freedom to express behaviours that promote well-being.
