Name: Sasha    Breed: Australian Shepherd Mix

Approximate Age: 2 years     Sex: Female

Approximate Weight: 33lbs

Currently Living at: DC foster

Special Adoption Considerations: Sasha prefers not to share her home with other dogs or cats, and would do best with children over 15 years old.

I was saying to myself just this morning, 'Sasha,' I said, 'Sasha, you know what you need? You need a person all your own.' So I sat down to write this post for the nice people at Lucky Dog, because apparently that's the kind of thing they do - find nice people for extremely intelligent and lovable, doggies who are...I shudder to type this...HOMELESS. That's right: I have no home to call my own. Could you be persuaded to volunteer yours?

This little charmer knows she's got it and is not afraid to flaunt it. Sasha seeks a mature and experienced new owner who can meet her every need and spoil her beyond her wildest dreams. Sound like you?

This 2 year old spunky, good time girl is intelligent, focused, and learns new tricks quickly. She’s quite the smarty pants and loves to show off her new skills like sit, down, and release for an audience of friends! Being an Aussie mix, Sasha will need plenty of exercise and mental stimulation to be a happy and healthy pup. She can't wait to go to obedience training with her new family so that she can bond with her people and become her very best self!

Though we don't know why she ended up in the shelter, we know she doesn't belong there! This sweetheart loves the company of her humans but prefers not to share her home with other dogs or cats. She loves playing with toys (especially tennis balls!) and eating yummy treats, but at the end of the day, Sasha loves nothing more than cuddling with the people that love her. Want to make Sasha a part of your family? Fill out an application!

Sasha's foster mom says, 'She likes to cuddle, be scratched behind her ears and on her belly, give kisses and take naps.  Sasha also is playful and loves to chase balls, a frisbee, and her own tail. She is super loyal once she bonds with her people. She is a good house guest who respects her boundaries (she doesn't jump on furniture unless invited or chew anything other than her toys). Sasha also does very well in her crate.' Here is a cute video of Sasha being a goofball:

The adoption fee for this dog is $350, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations and spay/neuter. If you are interested in adopting, please download our Adoption Questionnaire and email it to Sheila M at!

About Lucky Dog Animal Rescue

About Our Rescue Group...

Lucky Dog Animal Rescue is a group of highly motivated and highly dedicated volunteers. We spend countless hours making sure that wonderful dogs find loving forever homes. We don't do it for money -- we do it for the joy a dog can bring to its new family; we do it for our love of animals; and we do it to save lives!

Come Meet Our Pets...

Our adoption events are held each weekend. A schedule of times and locations can be found at

Our Adoption Process...

The adoption process begins when you submit an adoption application either online or at an adoption event. The individual responsible for the dog you are interested in adopting - a position we call the “adoption coordinator” - will then set up a time to discuss your application over the telephone. The adoption coordinator will check your vet reference to make sure all current and past pets were kept up-to-date with their shots and medical care. The adoption coordinator will also set up a home visit with one of our trained volunteers. That individual will come to your home to ensure that it is a safe environment, to confirm that everyone in the home is on board with adopting a dog, and to discuss any other questions you may have about dog adoption!
