April's Story...
April is a TSCR alum who was returned to us due to illness in her human family resulting in the inability to continue to care for her properly. But it is very evident that she was well loved and cared for.

She is healthy and in good physical shape. Her coat is soft and silky and her teeth are sparkly white. She is a bit bewildered about the changes in her life but is a very affectionate dog in spite of it all.

April loves all people and is very hungry for affection. She is well mannered, knows basic commands and walks very nicely on a leash. She is house trained (aside from a few nervous piddles while she adjusts to her new surroundings). She lived with children in her former home and reportedly did fine with them. She is fine with other dogs but may prefer all the attention to herself. She met her first cat in my house and is very interested but not aggressive toward it. She just seems to want it to play with her. April is crate trained and will sometimes go into her crate to rest on her own choosing.

April will make a great pet for someone. She is confused and anxious right now about the changes in her life and will need some tender loving care as she finds her new place in life. But once she does she will be quite the companion. Please consider letting her be a part of your home.

April is being fostered in Indiana.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

April, a Powell Collie dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Collie for sale in Powell, or seeking a Collie dog from a breeder in Powell.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Powell already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Powell breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Collie breeders who help with Collie rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Powell paves the way for another one to be saved.
