Facts about Beckie
Breed: Domestic Shorthair
Color: Black & White Or Tuxedo
I am already spayed.
Hi, I'm Beckie. I am a wonderful girl who will be a great pal to my new parent(s). They think I'm about age 6, so I'm still young and will play with things like a feather on a stick. I'm very loving and charming and want to be with my person(s), not a loner at all. I LOVE to be petted any way you like...down my back, up my back ruffling up my thick coat, scratch the top of my head, massage my shoulders and cheeks...all that. I do "elevator butt" when petted on my back near the base of my tail...very cute! I detest other cats, so need to be the only cat in my new home. Have not been with a dog, so that would likely not be a good situation for me. I'm rather chubby, so have trouble turning around far enough to groom my back. I would appreciate being fed a small amount twice daily to help me lose a pound or two. My pictures aren't fabulous because I was so busy parading for my foster mom wanting petting that she had a very hard time catching me still for a moment...I have two tiny white triangles on my face and am quite adorable. To find out more about Beckie, please contact her foster mom, Carol, at firstname.lastname@example.org or 913 469 9881.
The Heart of America Humane Society is an all-volunteer, 501(c)3 non-profit organization helping to place shelter and foster animals into permanent homes in and around the greater Kansas City metro area.
Our goal is to save and improve the lives of Kansas City's homeless companion animals by promoting responsible pet ownership. The Heart of America Humane Society (HAHS) partners with the Lee's Summit Animal Shelter (Lee's Summit, MO) to manage a spay/neuter program and to increase pet adoptions into responsible, permanent homes.
Background Our organization does not have a permanent facility or paid staff, so nearly all of our adoptions or other community involvement takes place on-site at pet stores and through other event venues. Some events raise awareness and bring in donations for our animal support efforts, while others help acknowledge and show appreciation for our own volunteers (who perform all duties outside of their regular jobs). HAHS maintains a News and Events Web page to highlight these efforts.
Come Meet Our Pets...

Our Adoption Process...
How much does it cost to adopt an animal?
The cost of adoptions of puppies 5 months and younger is $200. While some of the adult dogs coming into our program are already spayed/neutered, all of the puppies require this expense from HAHS. The cost of dogs over the age of 6 months is $150. The cost of one kitten under the age of 5 months is $85 and for 2 kittens it is $130. The cost of one cat over the age of 6 months is $65 and for two cats it is $100.
