Good with Children: yes
Good with Dogs: He is unpredictable with dogs. He would be best as a single dog. There are many dogs in the neighborhood that he is quiet with and a few that just set him off. Small or elderly dogs will not be a good fit.
Good with Cats: Yes
House trained: Yes-He's amazing in the house. Has never used the inside of our home as a potty, he always waits for us to take him out.
Crate trained: He does not like the crate.
Leash trained: Working on it. He does pull when he's on a leash or lead but he's getting better & having a harness on him helps a great deal.
Activity Level: He has high energy as he will run in the yard for hours.
Fence REQUIRED: 5-6ft fence or invisible fencing would be best. He could/would probably jump a 4' fence. He seem fine with a 5 ft fence. I don’t know that invisible fence would be good for him
Behavior: He's such a cuddle bug!!!!!
Medical History: He is neutered, up to date on vaccines, heartworm & lyme negative. Full panel blood work done.
Foster Comments: He does get car sick when you travel with him. He also gets into a barking fit so a spray bottle with a firm NO while spraying him once or twice settles him down. He LOVES to talk. Keeping your voice low when he starts in makes a difference. The louder you get...the louder he gets! He really loves women and cuddles and sleeps with you.
His adoptive family will need to be firm on redirection with him, but other than that he's just a complete dream!!!
Foster Location: Bartlett, IL
In most cases volunteer transport is available for your adopted dog to within 2 hours of your home.
Above and Beyond English Setter Rescue is not a shelter, but a group of volunteers who are committed to finding excellent homes for the dogs in our program. All of our dogs are living in foster homes in states across the country. Often times a dog is not geographically close to where an adopter lives. When possible, transport assistance is provided at no cost to the adopter. Our transports are coordinated by the Above and Beyond ES Rescue Transport volunteers and driven by volunteers. For more information and to complete an application, please visit the Above and Beyond English Setter Rescue website, http://www.esrescue.org/Application.html

You'll receive a copy, too, at to help you keep track of which pets you've inquired about, and which shelters and rescues you've emailed.
NOTE: Some shelters have physical locations you can visit; some of these shelters may only have pets for a limited time, so please do not wait for a reply—just go visit the shelter! Other organizations are rescue groups run by busy volunteers who may take a while to reply. You can find information about the shelter or rescue group caring for this pet, and their adoption procedures, on the pet's details page on Adopt-a-Pet.com.
