My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Date of Birth or Age*: June 1, 2009
Buttons is a gorgeous girl with beautiful markings and soft fluffy fur. She was adopted as a kitten and spent seven happy years in her home until her owner was unable to continue caring for her. Buttons is a very sweet and gentle cat. She is still busy exploring her new space and sometimes needs to take comfort in a cozy quiet corner by herself, but she also likes to hang out a lot with her foster mom. So far she enjoys sitting beside you on the couch, sitting above you on the armchair, sleeping at the bottom of the bed at night, and even meowing at you from the bathtub while you brush your teeth. She has even crawled into her foster moms lap for some cuddles on a few occasions. She also enjoys a bit of playtime, especially with cat wands and shoelaces, but is generally pretty laid back.

Buttons is still a bit nervous and unsure of her new surroundings (she has only been in her foster home for three weeks at the time of this being written, and only out and about the entire apartment for one week). She will take some time to adjust and likes to have a safe place (e.g. closet) to fall back on when she needs a break. Despite being nervous about her new surroundings she never had an issue with her new human and enjoyed getting pets and attention from the start. It took a couple days for her to get the courage to venture out into the vast unknown of the apartment and wanting to spend time with her new human was a good motivator as she likes to be around you. At this point though she still likes to disappear when strangers are around and prefers to stick to who she knows.

Buttons lived with another cat in her previous home and also shares her foster home with a resident cat. She was cautious of the other cat in her foster home at first but at this point has decided that her policy for now is to simply ignore him. She would be fine going to a home with another cat but would also do very well on her own.
When Buttons first arrived at her foster home she was very stressed out with all the sudden changes to her life. Although she has always been a very sweet and friendly cat, she reacted to this stress by not eating and had to be syringe fed for over a week before she started eating on her own. Her new home will have to keep an eye on her at first to make sure she is eating properly.
Special note from my foster family: Buttons is a beautiful and very sweet cat. She is still a bit cautious and shy but at the same time so interested and friendly that I think she will become a wonderfully affectionate and easygoing companion if given the time to settle in and adjust to all the changes in her life. She might do best in a quieter home though so she can feel safe and comfortable enough to really make herself at home. Buttons is such a sweetheart and deserves to find another wonderful home to spend the rest of her furry days.
