Let's make a deal! You adopt this handsome young dog, and Monty will provide fun and companionship for your family for years to come.
Monty is just transitioning into adulthood, and is starting to outgrow his puppy behavior. He's a quick student who learned his basic commands with no problem, and would probably like to learn more. He's good on a leash and we're working to make him even better. And he loves to entertain himself with chewy/squeaky toys.
Monty is also happy in a crowd. He seems to get along with all people. He enjoys affection whether it's playtime or time to relax. He also has been a great playmate for other dogs. He's very playful and not pushy or domineering.
Despite being such a young adult, Monty has a moderate energy level. He enjoys exercise but he also spends a good amount of time catching up on his beauty sleep. He would love to share a home with another dog. He seems to love kids, but he would need to fully grow out of his puppyhood before being a good fit for small children. A home with a yard would be great of course, but a small yard would be fine as Monty is more interested in sniffing and exploring rather than romping around.
Don't settle for what's behind door #2 or #3! With a bit of structure and consistency, Monty should quickly turn into a wonderful long-term companion. Don't forget that APA's behavioral team will be available to help with any questions. Plus, remember that when you adopt you'll also let us free up space so that another dog can join us at APA!
