Bernie's Story...
Bernie here! I'm a quiet fellow who likes to enjoy the finer things in life like sunny windowsills, climbing up a cat tower, and playing with toys. I have to admit, I am a little bit shy upon first meeting and take a little bit longer to settle into new environments. I was rescued from a hoarding situation so while i have lived with people I didn't always get all the care and attention I needed. The folks here have slowly taught me that humans are my friends and now I am ready to find a family of my own. Due to my shyer nature I am looking for a home with older children or adults and one with cat experience who will keep working with me to help me socialize. Think you have the space in your home and heart to welcome a sweet shy boy like me? Then come down and visit with me today!

Before making the trip to visit the shelter we strongly recommend checking our website for information on adoption policies and procedures. Please understand that because we are a busy place and because so many animals need our care and attention, adoptions are on a first come basis and no animal will be put on hold. To inquire about a pet's availability or for more information, we encourage you to visit our shelter in person. Due to the high volume of interest, email and phone inquiries may not be returned on a daily basis. We appreciate your understanding and look forward to your visit! 978-283-6055 ex 10 for reception desk

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Bernie, a Gloucester Domestic Shorthair cat was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Domestic Shorthair for sale in Gloucester, or seeking a Domestic Shorthair cat from a breeder in Gloucester.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Gloucester already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Gloucester breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Domestic Shorthair breeders who help with Domestic Shorthair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Gloucester paves the way for another one to be saved.
