My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

My name is Zoey, and I am a young adult yellow Labrador/ Black Mouth Cur mix who was born about May 2013. I am very frisky, affectionate, and lovable. I really enjoy playing with my toys, and doggie bones are my favorite food.
I am very friendly and get along great with other dogs. I need a loving owner who will spend time with me, play with me, and take me on walks. I am still working on obeying commands.
I was one lucky puppy who "happened" to follow just the right lady home one day. I was literally starving. In my "before" photo, you can see my ribs' protruding out from the side of my body and that I didn’t have any hair. My skin was gray, scaly, irritated, and very itchy. The veterinarian diagnosed me with Sarcoptic Mange (Scabies) and said, “This is one of the worst cases of Sarcoptic Mange I have ever seen.” I was highly contagious. I used to rub my belly on the street because my body itched so badly. Yet this caring lady reached out to me despite the scary way I looked on the outside. Maybe she could see my big, loving heart inside.
I was given a series of shots over several months and slowly my hair started to come back. I now look like other Labradors. See how ALL of my hair is nice and golden? I no longer have mange, and I am nice and healthy. Whereas I used to be skin and bones, now I even have a belly.
Even though I am so grateful to my rescuer and even though I love my foster home, I would still love to have a permanent human companion and home of my very own. Won't you be that special someone to give me my lifetime home where I can give and receive lots of love and attention?
