Hi! I'm Shelby. I am about 5 years old. I've had some puppies & haven't quite gotten my girlish figure back but since I'm now spayed it won't be to long before I'm in shape again.

My foster mama says I'm the sweetest girl ever! I really love attention and like to be near my person whenever possible. I will lay by your side quietly so you don't even know I'm there. I am pretty well potty trained.

The only thing I ask is that I be your one & only dog. I don't really mind other dogs when I'm out trying hard to perfect my walking on a leash. I'm learning to sit also! I don't mind being kenneled. I occasionally will bark or talk to you a little if you are home & I can't be with you. It's just a reminder though.

The longer I'm with you & the more I trust you the more playful I am. I also start to be a better watch dog the longer I'm around. Foster mama says I'm not the best watch dog since I kinda seem to like everyone. I haven't been around kids w/ my foster mom & since I don't care to share my attention w/ other dogs, she thinks it's best I only hang out w/ teenagers & adults. Oh & I like to give hugs! Also, I lovvvvve to go for car rides!! I also think grasshoppers are the funniest things to play with! It makes foster mama laugh & laugh! If you have any other questions feel free to ask.

I was scheduled to be euthanized, but San Antonio Pets Alive! saved me and now they are helping me find the forever, loving home that I have never known.

I am currently located at San Antonio Pets Alive!, and I am in a foster home. By adopting me, you not only give me a new leash on life; you also save the life of the additional dog who can be rescued from euthanasia and placed in foster care.

If you are interested in adopting, please email adopt@sanantoniopetsalive.org with Pet name and ID#. Please allow us up to 24 hours to respond as all fosters work with us on a volunteer basis.

About San Antonio Pets Alive

About Our Rescue Group...

San Antonio Pets Alive (SAPA!) is a new organization that will be modeled after the very successful Austin Pets Alive (APA). APA was instrumental in helping Austin achieve their goal of no longer euthanizing healthy, adoptable pets from the city shelter. SAPA has teamed up with Animal Care Services in order for the city of SA to reach their no-kill goal.

In partnership with San Antonio’s Animal Care Services, we are implementing innovative and progressive programs to:

Rescue as many pets as possible off of the daily “euthanasia list”. In our rescue program, to not duplicate work of other agencies, we focus solely on the pets who have already been passed over by other groups and the shelters’ adoption programs and create programs to save their lives and find them new homes.

Our rescue program is focused 100% on the dogs and cats who are about to be killed. We wait until the shelters have chosen the pets they want for their adoption programs and other rescue groups have pulled the pets that they can take, then we go in and rescue the rest that we can fit into our programs.

Email adopt@sanantoniopetsalive.org if you have any
questions.

If you are interested in fostering an animal, please visit our website and fill out our online Foster Application. The more foster homes we have the more animals we can pull off the euthanasia list and the more lives we can save together!
