BUDDY's Story...
An adoption application on BUDDY can be found at the following link: http://wp.me/P73YMd-1h

Please email the completed application to kate.woofriver@gmail.com

Please submit an application AND do NOT also contact the shelter. You will be contacting both the adoption coordinator and the marketing director, who do not see each other's emails. This causes confusion.

BUDDY is a calm, gentle boy who couldn’t be more handsome. He is around 3 years old and weighs 50 pounds. He currently lives in a foster home with two large Rottweiler’s and gets along great with both, even with all their energy. When BUDDY gets excited, his tail starts wagging and you may never get it to stop. BUDDY has experience loving cats, as you can see in his pictures. He also likes spending time with the little kids in his family, although he does not live with them full time. BUDDY would be perfectly happy laying on the couch all day – he is a super laid back kind of guy. BUDDY is a great passenger in the car. He is also housetrained and crate trained. If you are looking for a dog who will look deep into your eyes and cuddle with you all day and night – then BUDDY is the right boy for you!

BUDDY is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on all vaccinations.
His $450 adoption fee includes interstate health certificate and transport to the New England area.

All of our dogs start their journey in Memphis, Tennessee where they remain in loving foster families until they are adopted. Once adopted, they travel via one of our transport partners to their new forever homes. We use Alpha Dog Pet Transport for our New England, Nashville, and Knoxville adoptions (https://alphadogtransport.com) and The Road Home Pet Transport for our Midwest adopters (https://www.facebook.com/roadhomepettransport).

Breed selection is done in conjunction with two local vets and is not to be considered a guarantee but rather a well-educated decision from well qualified staff.

Due to the extremely high volume of inquiries we receive, we ask that you request, complete, and submit an application before asking additional questions. We try very hard to include all pertinent information in our bios. We are excited to help you find your new family member. However, Woof River is 100% volunteer operated. We want to spend our time saving dogs and assisting those adopters who have taken the time to complete an application. Thank you for understanding.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

BUDDY, a Harrisburg German Shepherd Dog/Labrador Retriever dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a German Shepherd Dog/Labrador Retriever for sale in Harrisburg, or seeking a German Shepherd Dog/Labrador Retriever dog from a breeder in Harrisburg.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Harrisburg already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Harrisburg breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even German Shepherd Dog/Labrador Retriever breeders who help with German Shepherd Dog/Labrador Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Harrisburg paves the way for another one to be saved.
