ELLIE MAE's Story...
An adoption application on ELLIE MAE can be found at the following link: http://wp.me/P73YMd-1h
Please email the completed application to dulcyiwata@gmail.com
Please submit an application AND do NOT also contact the shelter. You will be contacting both his foster mom/adoption coordinator and our marketing director, who do not see each other's emails. This causes confusion.

ELLIE MAE and her brother JETHRO were named after the cast of the Beverly Hillbillies! As of 5/9/2016 Miss ELLIE MAE is 5.5 months old and around 35 lbs. She is every bit as sweet as she looks. She is always thrilled to be the recipient of attention and affection. Her little tail is almost always happily wagging. She lives in a foster home with both big and small dogs; she is fantastic with all of them! She hasn't met any cats, but we feel confidant that she could learn to share her home with kitties. True to her lab roots, one of ELLIE MAE’s favorite pastimes is playing chase with the other dogs. She also enjoys a good game of fetch. She is crate trained and knows to potty outside. If kept on a regular schedule, her potty training is quite good for such a young lady. ELLIE MAE will provide endless amounts of fun, kisses and snuggles to her forever family!

ELLIE MAE is spayed, microchipped, and up to date on her vaccinations.
Her $450 adoption fee includes interstate health certificate and transport to the Midwest.

All of our dogs start their journey in or near Memphis, Tennessee where they remain in loving foster families until they are adopted. Once adopted, they travel via one of our transport partners to their new forever homes. We use Alpha Dog Pet Transport for our New England, Nashville, and Knoxville adoptions (https://alphadogtransport.com) and The Road Home Pet Transport for our Midwest adopters (https://www.facebook.com/roadhomepettransport).

Breed selection is done in conjunction with two local vets and is not to be considered a guarantee but rather a well-educated decision from well qualified staff.

Due to the extremely high volume of inquiries we receive, we ask that you request, complete, and submit an application before asking additional questions. We try very hard to include all pertinent information in our bios. We are excited to help you find your new family member. However, Woof River is 100% volunteer operated. We want to spend our time saving dogs and assisting those adopters who have taken the time to complete an application. Thank you for understanding.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

ELLIE MAE, a Milwaukee Labrador Retriever dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Labrador Retriever for sale in Milwaukee, or seeking a Labrador Retriever dog from a breeder in Milwaukee.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Milwaukee already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Milwaukee breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Labrador Retriever breeders who help with Labrador Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Milwaukee paves the way for another one to be saved.
