Sandy is a sweet old lady that was pulled from Franklin County Animal Shelter just minutes before being put to sleep. Sandy loves her person/people unconditionally and would love to go to a home with a single lady that is looking for a loving companion and a protector. Sandy was severely abused and neglected so she needs to go to an understanding and patient home. Before she was rescued she lived outside so she gets overwhelmed easily in busy situations. She loves consistency and a steady routine. Once she sees you as her family she is a great guard dog and will protect you with her life. On the flipside Sandy loves to cuddle and get loved on as much as possible!!! She can be fearful of men (especially if they have loud voices) and most children are just too active for her to relax around. For this reason she needs to go to a kid-free home. If you are looking for a sweet and protective couch potato this is your girl!
Sandy is dog and cat friendly and enjoys the company of others furry friends. She would be fine - maybe even prefer - being the only pet because that would mean more attention for her and she lovesssss attention! This girl still has a lot of spunk and lots of love to give!
As previously mentioned Sandy would be a great fit for a single woman looking for a loyal companion and protector. She would also do well as a farm dog where she can enjoy a calm environment and hang outside for part of the day and head inside when she is ready to chill on the couch! She loves to chew toys and to cuddle with her person. When she first came to FCHS she didn't know what toys were for... She has come a long way but will always need a special home!
Sandy was heartworm positive when we rescued her but was able to go on a nice long road trip to Georgia to be treated thanks to a wonderful group who sponsored her! She has overcome various other health issues and we are so happy to be able to report that she now has a clean bill of health!
Sandy is spayed, micro-chipped, up-to-date on vaccinations and current on heartworm and flea/tick prevention. If you or someone you know might be interested in adopting sweet Sandy please e-mail email@example.com or fill out an application at https://fchsnc.formstack.com/forms/dogadoptionform_
