Meet Vera. Just 4 years old, this sweet gal had a rough life in rural Missouri before coming to Tenth Life. During those few years, she was hit by a car, shot with BBs, and lost all of her teeth (her tooth loss was due to stomatitis, which is no longer a problem, and she eats with no problem—wet AND dry food!). Despite all this adversity, Vera has remained trusting and friendly with people. She loves to cuddle up with her foster mom for a nap or to have her head and ears scratched. She gives head bonks and plenty of nose kisses. When she first came into foster care, Vera had no interest in playing with toys. We assume that she either had no toys before or that she was too busy trying to survive out there. But now she LOVES to chase and jump after her feather wand or her fishing pole toys. And best of all, Vera plays independently! She has favorite mice that she likes to hide in special spots and then go “catch” them on her own. She’s a fun and easygoing girl who is enjoying the good life now that she’s been rescued.

Vera has inflammatory bowel disease, but her condition is under good control with a very low dose of prednisone. She is currently eating a prescription diet, but it is possible that another diet will be fine, as long as she is fed a good-quality food that is approved by your veterinarian.

This sweet girl wants nothing more than to move into a forever home where she can feel safe and loved. But she's not big on sharing your love with other kitties, so she'd prefer to rule the roost as an only cat.

DOB: Approx 4/2013

About Tenth Life Cat Rescue

About Our Rescue Group...

Tenth Life is an animal welfare organization that provides another chance at life to injured and abused stray cats. Our focus is on felines with extreme medical needs or ongoing conditions that make it difficult for typical shelters to afford their care.

Stage one of our mission is getting needy cats off the streets of St. Louis and into caring Foster Homes, where they await their forever homes. Stage two´s goal is to open a shelter building that will house special-needs kitties in a cage-free, no-kill setting until they can be carefully placed in their forever homes.

Our Adoption Process...

All potential adopters are required to complete a comprehensive application and interview, and will need to supply proper identification, as well as personal and veterinary references. Our adoption fee is $125 for kittens 6 months or younger, and $100 for any cat over six months of age. Our fee includes spay/neuter surgery, vaccines to-date of adoption, and a microchip. Once approved, all adopters are required to sign an adoption contract.
