This beautiful young lady is Athena, a 2 year old shepherd mix that would just love to meet you and have you welcome her into your heart and home. Athena came to us from our Newark facility after she was found as a stray. We can only imagine that her former life was not the greatest, as poor Athena would flinch and flatten out when you would reach for her. That was when she arrived but now she has put her past behind her and has learned to trust again and have fun. Athena just loves people and is always ready to make new friends. Just going out for a walk seems to be pure delight for her and she does the happy-butt dance for everyone that she passes by. Athena is young and energetic, but she is well behaved too. She sits nicely when asked and is very gentle while taking treats. She is a little mouthy when she plays but with training, she will get over that quickly. Athena has a blast running in our exercise yard but it seems that no one played much with toys with her before as she is still trying to figure them out. She seems to enjoy meeting other dogs and loves people of all ages. If you can give Athena the lifetime of happiness that she deserves, come in and meet her. File#26160 4/12/16
