Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Why hello there, it’s so nice to meet you. My name is Barbie, but I often go by Barb. I am probably one of the easiest dogs you will ever meet. I’m a great companion for someone that does not want a high maintenance dog. At 12 years young, life has taught me that it’s meant to be enjoyed. That means lots of relaxing for me. I’m not going to bark every time I hear the doorbell ring or a noise outside. In fact, people coming and going in the house does not bother me one bit. I just sort of do my own thing, not wanting to disturb or demand much of my family. I’m a quiet and calm lady, not to mention incredibly cute! Because I like an easy going kind of life, I’d do best in a home where I am the only dog or at least with other calm dogs like me. I do enjoy a nice calm stroll around the block or two. In general, I’m probably the least demanding dog you’ll ever come across. I just find myself a blanket or a pillow and stay comfy cozy.
When I want to be petted, I’ll let you know by lightly pawing at your hand. The best spot to pet me is right behind my ears where I enjoy a good scratch. Also, if you’re really good at petting, I’ll roll over onto my side and let you rub on my belly.
I lived with my former mommy for all twelve years of my life, but she and her fiancé moved to a house that isn't four paw friendly and left me behind. To be honest, my heart broke a lot, but my foster mama tells me a wonderful, loving home is waiting for me out there somewhere! In addition, the quickest way into my heart is through my stomach. I LOVE treats a lot and am motivated to learn new things and warm up to new people through food.
Since I’m so easygoing and quiet, I would be happy in almost any kind of home. I’m okay with mature kids that understand how to treat small dogs (I'm currently living with a 9-yr-old boy who I love), and I’m good with strangers as long as are respectful and not aggressive with me. I’d do fine in a house or apartment, and I’m content to be on a leash or with a yard to roam. I’m happy in a crate, but I can also be trusted to not potty in the house as well.
I can't wait to meet my new family where we can have some easy peasy low key days, and I’m really hoping that my new home is with you.
