Hello, thanks for stopping by! I’m Patches, a mellow but adventurous 7- year-old Pointer who is looking for my new forever family. I grew up in New Mexico, but my people didn’t spend enough time with me so I became a master of escaping the yard. I didn’t realize that this would cause them so much trouble, but they decided it was easier to give me up than to fortify the yard and spend more time with me. This probably won’t be an issue if you take precautions and don’t just leave me to my own devices all day. I want nothing more than to find a family who will let me be their companion. I really enjoy the company of my people! I do very well on a leash and might do well off-leash with some additional training. Walks are a must for me so I can work off my need to explore. If you have an open field or large dog park that I can run around in, that would be awesome! If you let me go in a field, I always come back. I like to play with other dogs that I’m familiar with; however, juvenile dogs can put me on edge a bit until I get to know them. Cats don’t seem to be on my radar, so my foster folks think I’ll be just fine around them. If you move around a lot, I’ll probably follow you like a shadow just to see what you’re up to. I’ll sleep on your bed or sofa if you let me; otherwise I’ll lounge around while you read or watch TV. Did I mention that I enjoy cuddling? I can be timid to go outside if you don’t accompany me and I’ll give you sad doggy eyes if you leave me out alone. Sometimes I like to play with toys, and you might even catch me playing tug of war with other dogs in the house. And I love treats! I do fine being left in the house without supervision; in fact I’d much prefer that you leave me indoors if you go anywhere. At night I’ll just sleep on my bed or find another cozy spot to settle in. I don’t like to be confined to a crate, but I make due when it becomes necessary. Car rides are the best! They give me a much-needed chance to explore. In fact, I’ve been everywhere from Colorado to California and back and loved it! My wonderful foster family has been taking great care of me. I’ve received a clean bill of health from the vet. One cute little quirk you’ll likely notice right away is my missing upper K9. Nobody knows the story behind this, but it doesn’t bother me at all. My ideal family is one that would like to take me on adventures and would love to spend time with me. I look forward to meeting you and becoming your new best friend! This a courtesy posting. Patches is available through Mile High GSP Rescue.
