There's an obvious reason why my name is Snuggles.  Yep, I love to snuggle!  I especially love it when you scratch that spot where my back and tail meet...I just love physical contact!

I prefer to be a house dog where I can hang out all day.  I am housetrained and will do my business when outside on leash, but I find the wide world a little overwhelming, and I really prefer to stay close to home.  Just because I know you are wondering, yes, I like people, especially adults who know how to be gentle with me. And, I absolutely love playing with dog toys! Other dogs? I’d really rather be your one and only, although I might be okay living with another quiet senior dog.

I am fortunate enough to have a dog trainer working with me at Brother Wolf, and I am learning new behaviors with positive reinforcement and treats! I am very food motivated which is great because I will work for food! Just think of the new tricks you can teach me… I think it’s really fun to learn new stuff, so don't let that adage about "not being able to teach an old dog new tricks" fool you!!

I am also a very special dog because I had some masses removed. I am looking for a special, compassionate family who can provide me veterinary care if I need it down the road, but I have been doing really well since my procedure.

Brother Wolf is so committed to finding me a home that they've made me a Life-Long Friend! This means that my adoption fee is waived and  BWAR will provide vet care through one of their partner vets, as well as food, boarding and behavior support. For life!

I would love to meet you! Please come to the adoption center and say hello! Also, be sure to check out my video to see how cute I really am!

Application and counseling is required prior to all adoptions.

Individuals interested in adopting a puppy are STRONGLY encouraged to download and read this FREE ebook. Even if you've raised puppies in the past, this is an invaluable resource to help make your new addition successful!

Please note that visual breed identification of companion animals has been proven to be unreliable, so for most of our animals we provide a best guess at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each of our animals as an individual and do our best to describe and place pets based on personality not breed label.

About Brother Wolf Animal Rescue

About Our Rescue Group...

Brother Wolf Animal Rescue is known for their excellence in matching people with the best dog or cat that would suit their lifestyle. Today we are proud to have the largest NO-KILL shelter in Asheville. Brother Wolf Animal Rescue was established in 2006. We started off as a very small group of people, taking dogs and cats from gassing shelters in GA. We found wonderful homes for these animals but realized while we were saving these particular animals, we had a much bigger problem in our community that we needed to face. Perfectly healthy, highly adoptable animals in our community are being euthanized every day. Rescued pets are not broken or damaged goods. They are wonderful animals who have ended up homeless through no fault of their own.

Come Meet Our Pets...

Our facility is located at 31 Glendale Avenue in Asheville, off Swannanoa River Rd, 1/2 mile from Lowe's. Open every day.

Our Adoption Process...

All adoptions will require a contract and discussions with one of our adoption counselors. Based on the needs of the particular animal, we reserve the right to require a home visit at the discretion of the adoption counselor. All our animals will be altered before adoption and up-to-date on standard vaccinations. We do collect an adoption fee.
