Mama Kim is a South Carolina flood rescue dog with a sad and difficult past.  Even so, she’s filled with gratitude for the smallest things.  Kim came to Brother Wolf pregnant, anemic, heart worm positive and covered with ringworm patches.  Luckily Mama Kim was fostered while she waited for her pups to be born.  Poor girl suffered through more than twenty four hours of labor with no progress until finally she was taken to the emergency vet at 3:00 AM .  The vet gave her two blood transfusions before her C-section.  That poor girl had twelve pups in her, but only five survived to go back to her foster home with her.  She was a bit crazed from the anesthesia, but still she bonded with her little ones.  They all seemed to be doing fine, latching on and nursing, but one by one, they each took a turn and after several days, none of her pups had survived.  She was beside herself with their deaths.
Mama Kim, better known as Honey Girl, is a happy little gal, so grateful for any attention, a drink of water, a squeaky toy to chew, or any other reason to wag her tail and prance around or walk on two legs like a circus dog. She loves sitting in the sun, digging a nest to lie in, hiking at an easy pace in the woods, greeting all people in the house or on her walks, going for a car ride, being engaged in conversation. She’s a bit of a sneaky thief and will take papers, rugs, paint brushes or leashes into her bed to chew and shred. It’s very charming and easily handled.  Kim has a wide variety of tastes. She eats kale, broccoli, carrots, really all vegetables.  She’s also an excellent exterminator and will eliminate your stink bugs (pewy), spiders and mice.  She’s a patient hunter.   She really wants to please and learns routines and commands quickly. This always gentle girl is somewhat possessive of toys, space and her caretaker, so she'd probably be happiest being your one and only love, but she has learned to be open to another dog in our house. Please contact me, her foster mom, today to learn more!

All Brother Wolf animals are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up-to-date on vaccinations before adoption (if species appropriate).
Application and counseling is required prior to all adoptions.

Individuals interested in adopting a puppy are STRONGLY encouraged to download and read this FREE ebook. Even if you've raised puppies in the past, this is an invaluable resource to help make your new addition successful!

Please note that visual breed identification of companion animals has been proven to be unreliable, so for most of our animals we provide a best guess at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each of our animals as an individual and do our best to describe and place pets based on personality not breed label.

About Brother Wolf Animal Rescue

About Our Rescue Group...

Brother Wolf Animal Rescue is known for their excellence in matching people with the best dog or cat that would suit their lifestyle. Today we are proud to have the largest NO-KILL shelter in Asheville. Brother Wolf Animal Rescue was established in 2006. We started off as a very small group of people, taking dogs and cats from gassing shelters in GA. We found wonderful homes for these animals but realized while we were saving these particular animals, we had a much bigger problem in our community that we needed to face. Perfectly healthy, highly adoptable animals in our community are being euthanized every day. Rescued pets are not broken or damaged goods. They are wonderful animals who have ended up homeless through no fault of their own.

Come Meet Our Pets...

Our facility is located at 31 Glendale Avenue in Asheville, off Swannanoa River Rd, 1/2 mile from Lowe's. Open every day.

Our Adoption Process...

All adoptions will require a contract and discussions with one of our adoption counselors. Based on the needs of the particular animal, we reserve the right to require a home visit at the discretion of the adoption counselor. All our animals will be altered before adoption and up-to-date on standard vaccinations. We do collect an adoption fee.
