Hi there! My name is Takoda. Did you know that it’s a Native American word that means “friend to everyone”? That’s me - as long as the “everyone” in question understands that sometimes us kitties need our space. I’m a quiet (and “amazing” according to my foster family) boy who likes attention and really enjoys my people time – I enjoy laps and sleeping on the bed and will follow my people around looking for pets. I also enjoy playing with string and investigating spots like the bathtub and behind the washing machine. I am fine with other kitties (again, as long as they give me my space) but would also be fine as the only kitty. I am also fine with dogs but would also do best in a home without small children. I was born in February 2009 so I’m seven years old (the human equivalent of about 52) and have been neutered, microchipped and had a recent check-up (complete with dental work!) and am very healthy. My blood panel showed that my liver, kidney and thyroid are all great! If you’d like to see me in action, check out my video: https://youtu.be/LdPdbWphbdc I am living in a private foster home, not a shelter, so prospective adopters need to be approved to visit me there. If you are interested in meeting or adopting me, please fill out an adoption application at www.mainecoonadoptions.com.

NOTE: Some shelters have physical locations you can visit; some of these shelters may only have pets for a limited time, so please do not wait for a reply—just go visit the shelter! Other organizations are rescue groups run by busy volunteers who may take a while to reply. You can find information about the shelter or rescue group caring for this pet, and their adoption procedures, on the pet's details page on Adopt-a-Pet.com.
