Stevie Wonder"I'M ADOPTED"'s Story...
Stevie Wonder"I'M ADOPTED"'s Story...
Stevie Wonder has had a ruff paw dealt to him in this life.....so far. We're Hoping that just the right person reads this and sees beyond the blindness into the beauty of His Soul. The Stevie Wonder Story: Stevie was running at large, a stray in a world where sighted people with a whole lot of help still find it difficult and sometimes impossible to maneuver. He was trying his best to survive on is own unable to see anything but the darkness that enveloped his world. How do you find food, water or know where it's safe to put your paws when you are totally blind? Close you eyes and just try to walk around in a room you are familiar with..go on try it and I'll bet that you bump into something..and that might just leave a mark. But here is this blind dog trying to get by on his own in a less then friendly to stray dogs world, not even considering the totally blind part. How did he make it just 5 minutes without being killed. That is a question for God. And that is how I look at it. Stevie has a purpose and he is alive because of that still unknown purpose or he would have been hit and killed by the first car he encountered. Or killed by the first dog he met (natures is programmed to kill the weak). Or abused and killed at the hands of a demented person which there are millions of. And yet Stevie was spared and guided by an invisible hand. It led him to a busy highway where not by chance but with full reason the County Dog Pound Warden was driving and saw Strevie trying to cross the busy highway. Did you ever see a scared stray dog and try to help them where all your efforts failed as they fled away. That's what usually happens even with the best of intentions. But this time was different this Blind helpless dog said ok you want to pick me up and put me in a van and help me cross the road...Ok I'll go with you. If you are heartless you've already stopped reading or never even started and went on to the next dog for adoption because after all you are looking for the perfect dog and you don't have time for some white eyed blind dog. This world wants what it wants and it wants it NOW. But there are still a few out there that look past the skin or fur covering and see with their hearts not their eyes. And so the County Dog Warden did not kill the blind dog he found with a rotting collar and a foot of rusted chain around his neck. No, he took this pitiful creature back to the pound and posted him on line to see if anyone would offer him a chance to live. He could only give him days but the world can change in a blink of an eye. And so it did for this one. A cross post came across my email from a dedicated Ohio rescue cross poster...she stays up most nights sending out thousands of pleas on behalf of so many paws. She is just one link in the long chain of Rescue. I opened the email that said Blind Dog to be Euth on June 2. I typed 3 words..."I'll take him." and I hit send. Within hours I was contacted by a transport volunteer who offered to drive him half way to me...always grateful for Transporters on land and in the sky their service to paws in need is invaluable. I asked that the dog be taken to a vet before transporting to be brought up to date on all vaccinations, state required rabies shot and I asked for a Heartworm test...Hoping that his would come back Neg and knowing from the description of the collar and tie out chain that his results would be Positive for this horrible, totally preventable, by human means, disease. It costs less then $5...one pack of cigarettes or one fancy latte to protect a dog from this horrible deadly disease. If left untreated the death is a long painful one that ends in congestive heart failure. If you have ever been witness to this type of death you wouldn't wish it on anything. And as much as most people love to be right, in this I wished I had been wrong. To add to his suffering this poor pawed Soul had been infected with Heartworm and it was a strong positive. The pound thought that with that information I would of course decline my offer to help this dog. But no, that made me even more determined to try to help this one live. And so with back bent already to the ground I took on another. When ever your own life looks the most bleak just look around and lend your hand to another's suffering and watch your own disappear. Stevie Wonder...I wonder how you made it and were not killed. I wonder why you choose me to help you. I wonder what your true purpose in life is and just who it is meant for. I'm Hoping that we can heal you. I'm Hoping that someone sees with their heart and wants to adopt you and be your furever Person. Till that time I'll be here for you Hand to Paw Handicapped to Handicapped...I got you Stevie Wonder and Hope never fails and Hope never gives up. God is at the wheel, we're just passengers on life's highway.
