My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Name: Dexter
DOB: ~ 2/1/2014
Breed/Color: DSH/ Orange Tabby

Dexter is a 2 year old gentle, mild mannered sweet orange tabby. He is such a handsome boy with a more unique dark orange coat color. Dexter was a stray who was rescued with several deep wounds to his tail and legs. After getting all fixed up and healing, he went to his new foster home and initially was afraid of people and would run and hide. Nowadays, if you stop by to visit and, Dexter is happy for you to pet him. He also likes to be brushed, which is a great way to bond with him. Dexter is also popular among the younger cats in the house because he can be playful without getting rough or aggressive and they are often found snuggling up to him on the couch. He is a wonderful guy who will fall asleep with you and loves to snuggle while getting his ears scratched. Because he can get still be startled by sudden movements/noises, we think Dexter would probably do best in a quiet home, but it isn't out of the question for him to live with other cats or possibly a mellow dog.

Dexter is on a special diet due to food allergies and currently on Prozac to help this sensitive boy relax. He could likely be weaned off the medication once in his forever home. All the transitions in rescue can be very hard on kitties with a sensitive side.

Adoption Fees: All of our cats are spayed/neutered, micro-chipped, vaccinated (as age appropriate), tested for Feline Leukemia/FIV, given flea/tick & heartworm preventative, & fecal tested (dewormed if needed) before being adopted out. Dexter’s adoption fee is $50 including tax; adoptive homes are given all vet records at the adoption.
