My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Snapdragon - one of the 10 miracle siblings who is looking for his forever home! RHR rescued Blossom (mom) from Clayton County Animal Shelter, an overcrowded high kill shelter. Blossom was on the euthanasia list and was hours away from being put to sleep when we were able to contact a rescue partner in Georgia to help get her out of the shelter. We needed a place to board Blossom and get her vetting completed so she could make it to RI. All the vets that our partners would normally use were full so we tried a low cost vet clinic. Blossom was transported to the vet clinic and was given tests and basic vaccinations. We were saddened to find out that Blossom tested heartworm positive and would have to undergo heartworm treatment. As luck would have it an incredible foster family was found and Blossom was soon out of vet boarding and on her way to a lake house in Georgia.

Then we got the news that changed everything and placed poor Blossom in grave danger. Blossom was going to blossom in two weeks! Yes, Blossom was pregnant! We were shocked to find out that not only did the vet not perform the blood test and estrogen test we had requested (to determine if she was spayed or not) but they had given her the two injections of immiticide and started the doxycycline to treat the heartworm. This could be devastating for Blossom and the puppies. Our only option was to wait it out and see how everything progressed. We were pretty certain the pups would be affected and would possibly be still born.

However, Blossom and her puppies were granted a happy ending. Blossom is now in her forever home in RI and all 10 of her puppies are happy, healthy, and awaiting their forever homes!

They will be attending Super Dog Adoption Day hosted by Always Adopt on June 5th at Balise Toyota on Post Rd in Warwick! Preapproved applicants get early entrance to the event and can possibly take home the pup of their dreams that day! If you choose not to apply you can still attend with the rest of the public at 12pm.
