Facts about Archie

  • Breed: Chihuahua Mix
  • Color: Red/Golden/Orange/Chestnut
  • Age: Young
  • Size: Small 25 lbs (11 kg) or less
  • Sex: Male
Smart, sturdy 2 year old who may take a little time and guidance meeting new people and new things, but then watch him jump into laps, ask for nuzzles, and walk miles. He loves Squeaky Toys and Chew Toys, but may need some guidance about sharing. He's a ball dog. He is fine around other dogs when introduced properly.

Check out what one volunteer says about ARCHIE after spending a few days with her in her home:

I found the fountain of youth and it is in the palm of Archie's paw! Archie is 2 years old, bright as a light, and full of springy energy. This boy is not only an athlete, but so classically handsome he melts your heart! He has a thick, plush brown coat like a teddy bear, and the most mesmerizing eyes I have ever seen!

Archie is smart as a whip, and would THRIVE with an experienced owner who could provide him with consistent boundaries, and help him work on his impulse control. He was with me for three short days and it was amazing to see how fast he figured things out in that short time. This blew my mind, Archie potty trained in ONE day. I would love to see Archie with someone who can be present for him, enjoy all of his amazing, fabulous, playful, joyful energy and give him the mental stimulation and structure, that will allow him to shine.

He LOVES to play with squeaky toys. Archie will look up at you excitedly, with those gorgeous gems, until you toss the squeaky toy so that he can go bounding after it and come back for more! I learned that having a few toys on hand is the most fun. Throw one, when he comes back throw the next, and the next. Archie doesn't want to stop, he is the squeaky toy wizard! It was a total treat for me to see him in action and he is always up for a game.

The flip side of this young, strong, energetic boy, is a mellow guy who will sit on your lap and take in the scenery while you work on your computer at the park. He loves to just sit on your lap, put his nose up and sniff the breeze. Once you get home Archie will be up for playing with his toys and showing you his goofy side. He is good about bath time and after, will fall asleep in your lap wrapped in a big soft towel.

It is a comforting feeling to have Archie protecting your home. Though he is only 10 lbs. he has the bark of a bigger boy and will absolutely let someone know that they are not welcome to disturb your home. As a single female, I found this to be quite comforting. The best use of this awesome resource that Archie has, is to train him so that he knows when that big boy bark is appropriate.
I was endlessly impressed with the many gifts that Archie has to offer. Archie is FULL of potential & ready for someone as bright as he is, to come adopt him, look into those gorgeous eyes, and start this amazing journey.

Come to the Goleta Shelter and spend some time with this hunk of handsome and look into those captivating eyes!
