My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This dog is being fostered in Dallas TX and must be adopted within the Dallas, North Central Texas or the southern Oklahoma area.

NAME: Amari
GENDER: Female (Spayed)
AGE: About 6 months
WEIGHT: Currently 3 pounds (final weight estimated at 4-5 pounds)
DOGS/CATS: Great with other small dogs, Unknown with cats
CHILDREN: Due to small size, recommend all adult home

Amari - the word for love. And we promise you are going to love this adorable little girl.

Amari's life started in a tough way, and has evolved in to the ultimate love story. A few short months ago, CRT received a call for help. The staff at a local hotel had heard a soft crying coming from their trash area. When they looked around, they found a tiny puppy had been abandoned, and she was fighting to stay alive. CRT immediately drove over to get this sweetheart, and named her Amari.

Amari was banged up when we got her. Her head had been banged up, and this was causing her a little trouble with balance as she walked. But she has healed really well and is active and happy. She sometimes has a little balance issue when she first wakes up, but she shakes it off pretty quickly and is totally fine.

Amari is about 6 months old and enjoys exploring her world. Amari loves to run and play. She plays with squeaky toys and really enjoys them. She also loves to chew on nylon bones and other toys. The great thing is that she is not chewing on furniture, etc. Amari also gets along great with the other small dogs in her foster home. She enjoys going outside, but is small and therefore will always need her human near by while she is out (there are instances where hawks or large birds will swoop down and pick up small dogs under 5 pounds, so you will want to be there to protect Amari).

Amari is a little shy when she first meets new people. But she warms up fairly quickly once she knows she can trust you. Amari has learned to trust her foster family and enjoys being held and cuddled with. She is still a little apprehensive when you pick her up, and will sometimes let out a nervous squeal. But I think we can all understand she had a scary beginning and she is just wanted to make sure she is going to be safe! She is learning to relax and trust, and it has been a beautiful thing to watch her mature.

Amari is fairly quiet. She will bark when strangers ring the door bell. But once she knows they are welcome guests, she settles down! Amari is very smart. She is working on her potty training. She is crate trained, enjoys walking on a leash, and has even begun to learn some basic commands (she knows the word "no")!.

Amari is currently about 3 pounds, We believe she will only grow to be about 4-5 pounds. Due to her tiny size and her rough beginning in life, we recommend that she goes to an all adult home.

This precious little girl deserves so much love. If you are ready for a new addition, won't you consider adding Amari to your home?

Amari is spayed. micro chipped, up-to-date on shots, HW negative. and on heartworm prevention. She will be ready to join a loving family - could that family be yours?
