Summer is a beautiful tri-color brown little girl with a cute little white spot on the back of her neck.
Summer loves to be wherever the humans are. When her foster mom is doing the dishes she likes to walk between her legs. Summer enjoys getting scratches and being loved on. She likes to cuddle with you on the couch and also will burrow underneath the covers with you. Summer just wants to be close to her people.
Summer needs a good, confident pack-leader to help her adapt to the new humans and other dogs she will be sharing her forever home with. Summer has a lot of love to give but it will take her time and a lot of patience from her new family to help her gain trust before she will act herself and feel comfortable to share her love with her new humans. Summer has trust issues with new humans. When she meets new people who want to pet her, she can become protective and her defense mechanism is to nip when a stranger gets too close. She is the kind of dog who initially needs to come to you for attention rather than to be approached. We also feel that Summer tends to gravitate more towards men than women.
Summer likes to play with all different types of toys, including chewing on Nylabones. Summer gets along with her foster siblings and likes to play with them, but she likes to claim the dominant role and can get bossy during playtime.
Summer is a good eater and is very food motivated. She also likes to bask in the sun and watch all the birdies and squirrels in the yard.
Summer is a good eater and is very food motivated. She uses the doggie door to relieve herself independently and is house-trained. She also likes to bask in the sun and watch all the birdies and squirrels in the yard. Summer is also crate trained.
Summer does not do well with younger children, in fact, we feel she has had a bad experience with them in the past based upon her behavior towards them. We strongly advise her to be in a home with children at least 16 years or older. Summer would be completely content if she were the only dog in the home, but wouldn’t be opposed to other doggie siblings, though she may try to play the dominant role.
