My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Our sweet and beautiful Layla couldn't be more loving no matter how hard she tried. Layla is an approximately 9 month old Schnauzer/Terrier mix that is just waiting to be the love of someone's life. These mixes have grown in popularity tremendously over the past few years. It makes perfect sense in that they're known for their great temperaments, non-shedding (or very lightly shedding) coats and easygoing personalities Farfel's rescues almost every Schnauzer mix that is in need of our help with the confidence they will have great personalities and be loyal and loving family members. Layla has all these wonderful traits and was described by her Texas foster mom as just about PERFECT!

Layla has had a challenging period of time but is now safe and sound…never to be cold or hungry again. But with it all…Layla doesn't hold a grudge and desires only to be the best companion possible. Since Layla is so young, she's somewhat of a blank slate…open to all possibilities if treated kindly and with respect. Group training classes with her family and a positive reinforcement trainer would truly serve both Layla and her family (as it does every dog and their people). Together they will learn the skills to have Layla be a companion that is well-behaved (she's pretty close right now!) in every situation. It also creates strong bonds of respect between pup and family.

Layla tends to be a happy-go-lucky girl who loves life and responds so well to love and time spent together (hugs and kisses are absolutely awesome)... and of course some great treats are always a wonderful option. Layla gets very attached to those she loves and before you know it, is on her way to her favorite people's lap for belly rubs and soft touches.

Layla loves to come along (and is very portable at about 8 lbs)..be it to a dog-friendly workplace, a walk on a Colorado trail, a vacation or just socializing…Layla would love to be there as Companion #1. She has such a pleasant personality and is low-maintenance to fit in just about anywhere.

We envision Layla in a home that will provide her with exercise and stimulation. Layla wouldn't be happy spending long hours alone…she is far too people-oriented to be happy with that. A retiree or a person who works either part-time or from home would be great. Layla would love the companionship and consistency of those relationships. Being a young dog, she'd also learn that she's loved and cared for. This is a lesson that results in a happy and confident adult dog.

Layla appears to be either a non-shedding or very lightly shedding girl. Therefore she will require periodic grooming and great nutrition to keep her coat healthy and matt-free.

Layla will be arriving on transport in Boulder on Friday 6/3/16. If interested in this very sweet girl who is truly an exceptional companion, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com or fax to 303-443-7730.
