What a sweet and kind guy our Danny is! Texas vets have identified Danny as a Schnauzer/Terrier mix. we're not sure but we are certain that Danny is a designer breed mix that is opportunistically being bred for adorable looks, non-shedding (or lightly shedding) cotton-soft coats and great temperaments. As a result of this human greed, these pups are being bred, sold for very high prices or dumped if they have any challenges. Farfel's is very happy to rescue these dogs and find them nurturing and committed homes.
At about 3.5 - 4 years old and 7.6 lbs, Danny is an incredibly beautiful guy . We all know Danny has arrived when we see the wag that starts at his tail and becomes a full-blown body wiggle...Danny is greeting either a friend or anyone who has the potential to be a future playmate. Danny can be initially cautious...assessing the situation to make sure all is OK. This makes perfect sense as he's been through time spent at a high-kill shelter waiting for his pending euthanasia date. When Danny was identified with a great temperament, Farfel's spoke up to bring him to safety (and a new forever family) in Colorado.
Once he senses that all present are his friends, Danny is so warm and friendly that he always hopes every pat and kind word will turn into a friend. Both people and other dogs are drawn to Danny for his kind attitude and playful ways. He is learning to play fetch and waits expectantly...with his eyes so bright and joyful..to run off again. Danny seems to have a bit of leash experience as he's developed some skills and seems to love the experience.
Farfel's Rescue has determined that Danny needs a mellow home where he is an active and important member of the family. We feel that this would be more possible in an adult home (retirees would be perfect) where there's a more predictable environment. Danny would be overjoyed to spend parts of the day together either playing or walking in the sunshine through the beauty of Colorado. Then at day's end, he's the ultimate snuggler and sleeps soundly through the night.
It is Danny's love affair with life and all the hardships that he's suffered along the way that motivates us to put Danny through Heartworm treatments..his precious life deserves to be saved! Danny has tested low HW+ and Farfel's (with the help of Dr G in Denver) has volunteered to save this very special dog's life. The heart worm treatment process involves several shots followed by a short period of quiet time for the dog. We have found this protocol to be very successful and the dogs go on to live long, happy lives.
We are seeking an adopter to lovingly care for Danny as he becomes Heartworm negative. It's quite an easy rehab process as it only entails mellow time with soft words and belly rubs. Farfel's will pay the vet bills and provide premium food and treats for this special pup as he becomes healthily heartworm-free.
Danny (like all dogs) would benefit from positive reinforcement obedience classes that included the whole family - he is a super-smart guy who truly wants to please. Great training will give Danny the skills to be an excellent adult dog. These type of classes will also bring out the great qualities of this beautiful guy as well as creating a tightly-knit bonding with all family members

Danny is a non-shedding (or lightly shedding) pup with a beautiful coat with such distinctive silver markings. He will therefore require periodic grooming and great nutrition to keep his hair healthy and matt-free.
