My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

There's nothing quite like puppy energy and silliness...and then they lie quietly on your shoulder breathing their warm baby breath. They're so pure and vulnerable that it's unbearable to think of them in a high-kill shelter! Ned, at just 5 months old and 9.6 lbs (is estimated to be full grown at about 16 - 18 lbs), was facing the end of his life before it ever began. Farfel's Texas rescuers are compassionate and loving and couldn't turn their back on this puppy...they rescued Ned just in time. This sweet and engaging Schnauzer/Terrier mix is starting out with great energy...the excellent results of his temperament-testing ended with a transport ticket to Colorado and a new life.

Ned is incredibly beautiful...with the gorgeous streaks of gold and fawn that have come out since he's received a good, sudsy bath following his release from the shelter. Ned is appropriately playful and inquisitive for his young age. He is so smart and very engaging...so typical of a Schnauzer mix. He's also bright and so loving...clearly having no memory of his scary start.

Since Ned is just a baby, he's a blank slate just waiting for a kind and patient human to show him the way. He has all the potential in the world to be an awesome companion - he will form firm bonds with his family (as well as other dogs and humans) and learn positive socialization skills through Puppy Socialization Class followed by positive reinforcement group Obedience Classes. It does take time and commitment...yet pays off a thousand times over when you have a dog that can accompany you in the world with appropriate behavior.

We're open to Ned finding his forever home with a very active retired couple or individual with lots of energy to train and enjoy a puppy. Ned is great with children as well but we would prefer to place him in a home with older kids that can participate in a gentle and consistent training regimen.

Ned will be up to date on his vetting when he arrives in Colorado. We're hoping that he will be neutered when he arrives from Texas, however a young puppy like Ned is often deemed too young to fix. If this is the case, Farfel's will cover all costs for Ned to be neutered at our vet in Denver to be in line with our commitment to be a part of the solution to pet overpopulation.

Ned will be arriving on transport in Boulder on Friday 6/3/16. If interested in this exceptional and fun best friend, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com or fax to 303-443-7730.
