My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

~compassionate adoption fee applies if you are serious about adoption pls email caarescue@gmail.com ~
My name is Cathy!
On May 16th my family drove me to the SPCA and left me there
After all that time together they just left me there!
Sadly this happens a lot … as dogs get older they do require basic medical attention and many people cannot or do not want to pay. This is why half of CAA Rescue dogs are always seniors who have been abandoned. I was left in a very bad state… filthy is not even the word to describe me! I was so dirty matted and needed to be shaved because it have started to cause an infection! My claws were so long they caused reduced mobility and had to be clipped while I was sedated to minimize the pain I would feel. I had 15 teeth extracted and needed a huge time cleaning on the rest of them.
I was put up for adoption
It was noted on my card that I should not be around kids and sadly I was very mean to the kind employees who tried to help me. Not my fault – I was just absolutely beyond terrified and utterly heartbroken. Whether they were a good family or a bad family is neither here nor there … they were MY FAMILY! & they just left me.
As a small twist of fate would have it volunteers from CAA Rescue were visiting that night and they saw me … hiding at the back of my cage, shaking… they sent pictures right away to the CAA director who inturn contact SPCA to say, “sooooooooooo can we take Cathy?!” the answer was an immediate YES :)
And while I was sitting there all day being unsocial and scared not knowing what the next minute would bring for me in my cage little did I know all the work that goes on behind the scenes with rescue volunteers was taking place and literally 24 hours later to the nose from the time the CAA volunteers saw me I was picked up and whisked away!! YAY ME
No one really knew what to expect and how I would respond to joining foster care but I quickly hopped into the car onto my new foster mama’s lap and was ready to get the FRIG out of there! & that is just what we did and I am over the moon joyful and happy!
I like my little mini walks and have done all my business outside
I am friendly with people and like to play games with my foster mama for a short while
My energy level is low to medium… I play but I lose interest quickly
I am currently in foster care in an apartment and am not considered overly vocal so I think I could like being in an apartment again as long as everyone is patient with me and the adjustment time I need to get used all the new sounds a building can make

As I am recovering from all the medical attention I received; I do enjoy pets but you just have to stay away from the ouchie places that are still sensitive like my mouth and face (which no one should be sticking their fingers there anyway regardless) and my hind area where the bad matts were plus I have a patel luxation … only a grade 2 but enough that it can be a little more sensitive some days.

I am a calm sweet girl with up to 7 more years of happy life to live! At approximately 15lbs I am the perfect size and perfect temperament for anyone looking for a new best friend
I have not been tested with cats or kids… at 8 years old it would probably be best if I lived in a home without either one of those
I am a smart girl who learns fast and who wants to learn. You could probably have me clicker trained in no time flat if you have your timing down right :)
I would not be good for a first time dog owner though; I think I need someone who is a little more doggie and schnauzer savvy
I am still a little anxious with all the changes and missing my old family. I am hoping that with my new family I can feel that comfort of safety that only family can bring. If you have any concerns you can just watch me with my foster mom and that will show you what life would be like with me
