Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Chester currently weighs 35lbs and is around 6 months old. He is expected to mature into the low 50lb range. He is already neutered, up to date with shots, and good with other dogs.
Hi, I’m Chester! I had a rough start in life but I’m ready for my forever home! I’m a mix of Flat Coat Retriever and Traveling Sales Dog. If I say so myself, I’m a perfect mix of energy and snuggle, a fast learner and love being around people. I currently live with
a grouchy Husky and a pesky Chihuahua and I do well with both. I like to chase our cat so maybe a home without a cat would be better for me.
Nobody’s quite sure about my early history, but it wasn’t great, I can tell you that much! I was picked up after my rescuer saw me being tossed from a moving car. I was hungry and malnourished, as well as battling mange, entropic eyelids, and some cuts and bruises but I’m tough and started showing improvements after the first vet visit! My beautiful black fur was already coming back after one dip, and everyone is convinced I’m going to be a VERY handsome boy. The nice gals at Twyla’s even had the vet fix my eyelid so all the girls don’t think I’m winking at them!
I walk nicely on my leash, come when called, will sit when asked (working on the “stay” command), love to run and play, and I’m learning to fetch and return what you toss – unless it is FOOD!! I currently live in a house with tile and the only mistake I ever made was using the Chihuahua’s pee pad….wow, you would have thought I ruined it the way she acted! I’m not sure how I would behave on carpet, but I’ve never used it on the rug so I bet I’ll be ok. I hop right in my kennel when my foster mom tosses in my squeaky toy or a treat. I am trying to prove that I can be trusted during the day, but I do struggle with an affinity to dumpster dive in the trashcan, as well as pick up the occasional shoe. My foster parents are working with me on these, and I’m learning quickly. However, you may want to secure and hide your trash and shoes until I get it completely out of my system.
