Dorie's Story...
My name is Dorie. My birthday is 4/20/16. My mom, Lucy, arrived at Mackenzie's pregnant. She has been a really good mom with all 9 of us puppies. We will be spayed/neutered soon and will be ready to go to our forever homes. We love to play and sniff everything so a physical fence is required to keep us safe.

We are taking applications now for the puppies. They will be spayed/neutered before adoption.

We will contact applicants within 5 business days for the phone interview. Due to the number of applications that we anticipate receiving for the puppies, please do not call the Sanctuary about your application. We will process applications in the order received. Thank you!

For safety's sake, we are looking for homes with physical fenced in areas.
Please fill out our online adoption survey at www.mackenzies.info

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Dorie, a Lake Odessa Beagle/Basset Hound puppy was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Beagle/Basset Hound for sale in Lake Odessa, or seeking a Beagle/Basset Hound puppy from a breeder in Lake Odessa.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Lake Odessa already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Lake Odessa breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Beagle/Basset Hound breeders who help with Beagle/Basset Hound rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Lake Odessa paves the way for another one to be saved.
