My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Initial Bio—Poppy is an adorable little Yorkie puppy boy. He is only 7 months old and weighs 6.5 pounds. He is being fostered in Leesburg, FL. Poppy's adoption fee is $700 and includes all vetting (neuter, dental cleaning, immunizations, microchip and chip registration). A Vet reference, personal references, and home visit are required for adoption. You may apply to adopt Poppy by going to our website at www.unitedyorkierescue.org and completing the adoption application located on our home page.

Poppy the Puppy has arrived at his foster home, and what a puppy he is. He is full of puppy energy, puppy excitement, and puppy curiosity. For all those reasons his former family had to sadly surrender him. He was spending too much time alone and it is not good for a puppy to be alone and left to his own devices. Puppies, like little kids, can get into a lot of trouble that way, besides being sad and lonely.

Poppy is a good puppy when he is allowed to run off his energy. A fenced backyard would be ideal for this little guy. He is okay with other dogs, but he really likes people more. He is great with well-behaved kids 10 years old and older. He likes to play fetch, tug-of-war, and chase the puppy.

Poppy’s former owner said he is potty pad trained. He will also do his business outside, but like any puppy he still has accidents in the house. He is a good eater and enjoys his puppy food. He rides nicely in the car. Poppy likes to sleep on his blanket next to his people’s bed. He does not do well on a leash. He pulls and tugs. He really needs that fenced yard. Poppy needs someone home much of the day. He does not do well left alone for long periods of time.

Please remember that Poppy is only 7 months old. He needs a forever family that is active and can give him a 15 year commitment, since he most likely can live that long.

Poppy needs to be neutered and to receive the last of his puppy shots. After his neuter is healed he will be ready for his forever and ever home and family.

Stay turned for more information on Poppy the Puppy as his foster mom and dad get to know him more.
