Hi, my name is Grant, I am a 1 1/2 year old neutered male. I am a bit of a goof ball and sometimes I also tend to be kind of puppy and get a little mouthy. My foster dad is working with me on that and he says I am making some progress. He believes that I was a back yard dog that was left back there so I did not have any formal training. I am in a tough training course right now though! I am learning how to walk on a leash and am learning sit and down but that is taking longer than it should because I turn everything into a game. Sometimes I just don't understand that there is time to play and there is time to train and learn so when I make training a game, my foster dad gets frustrated. It's a good thing he has patience with me! I am learning, slowly but surely!

I am a sweet boy and I get along with dogs my own size and bigger. I would do best in a home with older children. I can just hang out and be relaxed but I also like to play and run around like crazy. I will settle down when told to though. I am house and crate trained though I can be a little noisy in the crate when I first go in there.

I would love to meet you but you need to be a strong owner who has German Shepherd experience and understands how us Shepherds can be. If that describes you, fill out an application to see if we can meet! If you have the strength and patience to work with me every day on improving my training, I will be an awesome dog!

About German Shepherd Safe Haven

About Our Rescue Group...

German Shepherd Safe Haven, Inc. is a 501(c)3 Non-Profit Public Charity dedicated to finding loving forever homes for abandoned German Shepherds. Our main goal is to rescue, train, rehabilitate, and re-home German Shepherds from shelter environments and from owner surrenders. Our secondary goal is to provide education to the public on the temperament, personality, and life span of the breed, as well as the importance for owners to spay and neuter their dogs. We believe that matching each dog’s temperament and personality to a family’s needs is fundamental to creating life-long relationships where the dog is not just a dog, but a valued member of the family.

Our Adoption Process...

Our adoption process helps us match each dog's temperament and personality to the adoptive family's needs. Our goal is to place our dogs in permanent, loving homes where the dog is a valued member of the family.

*** If you are interested in adopting a dog, the first step is to fill out an Adoption Application.***

After receiving your application, we will review it and follow up with a phone call. If your family is a good fit for our dogs, we will arrange a meet and greet with the dog(s) you are interested in. Following a successful meet and greet, a reference check as well as a home inspection will be done to ensure your home is ready for a dog. Please note that if you are renting, your landlord must complete and sign the Landlord Consent form. Once your home is approved, you need to sign our Adoption Agreement and pay the associated adoption fee prior to welcoming the dog into your home.

Please note: The Adoption Process from start to finish could take from 1 to 4 weeks.
