Shanti's Story...
Shanti is a playful, hilarious, affectionate little 1 year old Shih Tzu in search of a fun-loving forever home. Shanti arrived at ACL as a stray - she was extremely matted and had burrs stuck all the way down to her skin. After some clean up, Shanti is feeling one thousand percent better - and now we see her true personality! Shanti LOVES toys - she especially loves to play fetch. There's nothing funnier than seeing her try to fit a normal-sized tennis ball into her tiny mouth! Shanti is goofy and loving, and she always wants to be where you are. She has a lot of personality just like any Shih Tzu worth her salt, and she'd love a home that likes spunky, playful pups. Shanti is good with children of all ages and she loves other small dogs with a similar activity level. She'll need regular grooming to keep her looking healthy and beautiful.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Shanti, a Oak Park Shih Tzu/Maltese dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Shih Tzu/Maltese for sale in Oak Park, or seeking a Shih Tzu/Maltese dog from a breeder in Oak Park.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Oak Park already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Oak Park breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Shih Tzu/Maltese breeders who help with Shih Tzu/Maltese rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Oak Park paves the way for another one to be saved.
