Serina is a serene black beauty! This petite girl was surrendered to animal control downstate when her owner became ill and could no longer care for her. Born in 2011, Serina was rescued by the Angelina Foundation and brought to Heartland in April 2016. She is a bit shy at first, but loves attention from volunteers, staff and visitors. We don't know much about Serina's past except that she had two kittens who unfortunately passed away. If you have a quiet home, a loving heart and soft comfy spots for napping, please consider adopting Serina.

About Heartland Animal Shelter

About Our Shelter...

Heartland Animal Shelter is a no-kill humane 501 c 3 organization dedicated to finding homeless pets forever homes while educating the public on the importance of spaying and neutering their pets in order to help with the pet overpopulation problem.

Dr. Herbert Preiser, DVM and founder of Heartland Animal Shelter wanted to make a difference by saving the lives of pets who might otherwise be euthanized because of the over-population of unwanted pets. Dr. Preiser opened Heartland Animal Shelter in October of 2002.

Heartland's vision is to eliminate euthanasia to any adoptable animal. Heartland asks for your support by spreading the word about the importance of why pets should be spayed or neutered in order to prevent overpopulation of cats and dogs. Together we can make a difference!
