Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Leon, who looks like a lion but acts like a lamb! He is pretty close to perfect, if you are looking for a medium-sized dog to be your devoted companion. He's about a year and half old, and weighs about 23 pounds. His pictures don't do him justice--he is a dark red color with long wisps of different colored hair. We were told he is a doxie/yorkie mixed in with some scruffy terrier… a real "designer" dog!
Leon is very friendly and social, and loves everyone he meets. He is fine with cats and other dogs, but has no interest in playing with them. It seems he likes people so much he ignores other animals. He is not clingy or needy, he just wants a person to call his own. Leon is truly a "people dog".
Leon spent a lot of time outside in a small fenced yard before coming to Adopt-A-Pet, so will need a refresher course on house training. He is crate trained, and used to sleeping in a crate, so all he needs is some time and attention to complete his training. He walks nicely on a leash, and enjoys taking brisk walks as well as car rides.
Leon is being fostered at Wilmette Pet Center, 625 Green Bay Rd. and you can meet him any time during store hours 7 days a week (847-251-6750, www.wilmettepetcenter.com). You might want to call first--he hopes to find his person and go home really soon!
Leon's adoption fee of $325 includes: vet exam, distemper combo vaccination, bordetella vaccination, rabies vaccination, routine deworming, flea/tick preventative, heartworm test (negative), heartworm preventative, microchip and neuter.
