Obi-Wan Kenobi's Story...
A wonderful little dog with a very bright spirit has landed with us. His name is Obi-Wan Kenobi as in the Star Wars saga. The movie character is described as 'a noble man and gifted in the ways of the Force.' This pooch has been well named. But I must admit we were so tickled with the dog's name that we have morphed it into a couple of other nicknames, also known as Groaners! 'Obi-Wan Kenobi, you are the only bi-black Sheltie.' 'Obi-Wan Cannoli, you are the only Italian pastry.' 'Obie-lawn Gnome-e, you are the only lawn decoration.' and.....'Obi-Wan Bologna, you are the only lunch meat.' We challenge you 'crazy dog people' to come up with additional wacky names for this little bi-black buddy. Obi-Wan is a pretty easy-going fellow that enjoys the company of all other living, women, children, other dogs and even cats. He 'likes' so many things that it will be a pretty long list. Taking a walk, going for a car ride, chasing a ball, having his tummy rubbed, snuggling, watching an old black and white movie and just about any toy. A squeaky toy will put him into a joyous frenzy culminating with a mad dash through the house with the toy dangling from his mouth. They only thing that makes him happier is the possibility of a treat. His family has given in to his love of food and Obi-Wan is a little chubby but we are working on that. If Obi had not come to us as an owner relinquished dog with background information, I would never have guessed that he was a senior. He plays practically non-stop and is always up for the next fun activity. He is hypo-thyroid which means that he will be on a lifetime thyroid supplement that is simple to give twice a day and inexpensive. One of his liver enzymes is elevated and we are giving him a 30-day course of Denamarin, a liver cleanser. He is otherwise very healthy and robust. Obi is neutered, current on all vaccinations and micro-chipped. The right dog has the ability to make us happier and more active. Obi-Wan wants that kind of bond with folks that will love him for his lifetime. He will be the best little pal that anyone ever had if you will meet him halfway. Please begin the process for adoption by reading our Policies and Guidelines and, if we sound like the right group for you, proceed to the online Adoption Application. From there, our receipt of your completed application will be confirmed by email. You then will receive a follow-up phone call if we feel you are a good potential applicant for the dog. Lots of good conversation with the foster family, a reference from your veterinarian, and a home visit round out the screening process. We take dog adoption very seriously. Please put a lot of thought into why you want to adopt a dog, and help us make a good match for your family. We appreciate your taking the time to visit with us. We will look forward to hearing from you as well.
