Ana is the name that we have chosen for this compact collie with the beautiful expression. It should be criminal for anyone to treat a loving dog like Ana in such a careless manner. On the day she came to us, she was taken into emergency surgery to have her horribly infected uterus removed. It would disgust you to hear the details of her condition. She did survive the surgery but will have to wait another 30 days or so to undergo another general anesthetic and have the majority of her teeth removed. In the close-up photo you can see how many of them have fallen out on their own. Dr. Smith of Fremont Veterinary Clinic does all of our complicated dental procedures and he has our full confidence in these matters. So, for now, Ana will rest and gain her strength back in preparation for the upcoming procedure. Her body will heal and her shaved back end will grow new fur. She will eat good quality softened dog food with some holistic supplements. And we hope she will dream happy dreams on a cushy dog bed in air-conditioned comfort. Information from Ana's Home Again microchip indicates she is eight years old and began her life in Pennsylvania. We have had her vaccinated with a parvo/distemper combo with added lepto. Her rabies vaccine is current. She dodged a huge bullet and tested negative for heartworm disease. Her bloodwork is pretty good considering how sick she was. And she has the sweet uncomplicated energy of a middle-aged collie without a care in the world. It is possible that someone will see this beautiful little face with its odd, toothy smile and fall in love. That would be such a blessing for this little bundle of fur. She craves attention and will trot at your heels while you go about your daily chores. Then she will settle herself somewhere comfortable and just follow you with her eyes. After only a few days, she has managed to connect on a gut level with everyone in her foster family. And she could do that with you as well. Please see her for who she is and send her a little love for all that she has been through. No one should be permitted
